Overview

Level indication you can read from a distance

A float follows the liquid, and a wire-and-pulley system moves an indicator on a board outside the tank. It is simple to understand and easy to read from the ground.

Because the reading is mechanical, it needs no power and no calibration, and it can be read from the ground on tanks too tall for a sight glass. For large tanks and vessels with liquids of specific gravity 0.6 or greater.

Every component can be specified independently to match the process fluid, the environment and the budget.

Reads from a distance

Major graduations every 1000 mm with 70 mm figures, minor every 100 mm with 40 mm figures, on a 150 mm board.

Float material to suit

SS 304, SS 316, PP or PTFE floats, from general water and oil service through to aggressive chemical environments.

Corrosion-matched throughout

Guide wire, pulley housing, pulley, anchor plate and process connection are each specified separately.

Vacuum-seal option

A vacuum-seal variant is available where corrosive fluid vapour must be contained.

Models and variants

Specify each component to the fluid.

All VI-FBI indicators share the same wire-and-pulley operating principle. The table below sets out the option against the service it suits.

01

Float material

SS 304 / SS 316 / PP / PTFE

SS 304 for general service in water, oils and mild process fluids. SS 316 for improved chloride and saline resistance. PP for acids, alkalis and general chemical service. PTFE for highly corrosive or aggressive chemical environments.

300 mm diameter as standard.

02

Guide wire

SS 304 / SS 316 / PVC insulated / PP

SS 304 in 2 or 3 mm for general service, SS 316 for saline or chloride-bearing environments. PVC-insulated variants where corrosive vapour is present, and a full PP build for highly corrosive media.

Pulley MOC: nylon for standard low-friction duty, SS 304 for high-load or abrasive service, SS 316 for corrosive environments.
